The Maserati Birdcage 75th is a concept car constructed by Pininfarina in cooperation of Maserati and Motorola to celebrate its 75 years of history.
The car features an innovative vehicle/user interaction and communication system developed by Pininfarina with Motorola: using Bluetooth technology, it exchanges information with the user and everything surrounding the vehicle; facia, controls and dashboard have been replaced with virtual elements displayed by a projection system on a transparent panel.
Eclettica-Akura has developed the application that projects the animated facia on the transparent panel: via a computer connected to the car’s transducers, a software package converts the signals (door opening, switching on of headlights, etc.) into animated graphics, sending these to the projector which shows the image on the transparent facia.
At its debut in Geneva, the jury elected the vehicle as Best Concept car; it was then awarded the “L’Automobile più Bella del Mondo” prize by an international jury with a Special Prize for design quality.
